Hello, I'm Kelly. I've had a rough time for awhile. My raging alcoholic mother verbally and physically abused us 3 girls growing up. There was always a lot of anger around. In late high school and college I began to use and sell drugs and alcohol. At 18, I got pregnant. I left the father a year later and thought I found "Prince Charming". He was really a monster. He would drug me, rape me, and abuse me. We were dealing drugs for a South American cartel, and I did more drugs than I could handle. Soon I became a heroin user. One day, he was caught with drugs, and I got the rap.
During 3 years probation, I failed every urine test. They gave me chance after chance, but I couldn't stay clean. I went to detox, but left on the run. Finally I was picked up on arrest warrants and sentenced to 2 years in jail.
At first, I begged them to parole me back home, but I'm so glad to be at the Boston Rescue Mission instead. Here, people are kind-hearted and invite me to contribute. People are willing to help out in healthy ways. Before, I wasn't able to love and be honest with myself. Now I can openly share feelings and trust people. I'm thankful and grateful to the Boston Rescue Mission for helping me out. Here, lives are being saved every minute.
