Hello. My name is Michelina. The Boston Rescue Mission started me on a new road that I thought never existed. It showed me the true meaning of loving and serving God. Recovery must be earned, so I put 100% into what I do. But because I've stuck to this program, I'll have so many opportunities when I graduate.Without this Mission right now, I would have been gone.
My family support disappeared early on. During my infancy, my parents separated, and as a young adult, I lost loved ones in a fire. At 21, I had a son with a drug dealer who wasn't around much, so I worked hard to be a great mother. When he died of cancer, the grief was intense. Lines of cocaine, drinking, and heavy narcotic use only made it worse. I spent a small fortune on drugs until I landed in jail.
After entering the Mission's Parole Re-Entry Program, my spirit mended. While I could never believe in myself a year ago, now I'm humble and grateful, and my confidence is growing. I know this program is supported by real people who care, and it's important to thank them with everything I have in my heart..
