Donating Property

There are different ways to build your legacy at the Boston Rescue Mission by giving through your property assets.

By placing a property in a trust and then selling it, you can often avoid capital gain taxes that you would incur if you sold the property outright. Please see our Charitable Trust page for more information and consult your attorney about the possibility of placing a property in a trust that benefits the Mission.

Another option is a Retained Life Estate, which allows the donation of a personal residence (or farm) to the Mission while you are still alive. In this scenario, you may retain use of the property during your life time or for a set number of years. You would receive income and estate tax benefits in the year of the gift.

Outright gifts of property are also an option for building your legacy. Your attorney is the best source to guide you through this process.

For more information about donating property to the Boston Rescue Mission, please contact John Samaan at jsamaan@bostonrescuemission.com or via phone at 617-338-9000 ext. 1216.
