Great is Our Gratefulness -
Day of Thanks 2010
On Sunday November 21, 2010, dozens of volunteers, Mission staff, and local leaders gathered to celebrate our 18th annual Day of Thanks by providing hundreds of complete Thanksgiving dinners to families in need. Our food pantry recipients and families of our residents took home dozens of Thanksgiving baskets filled with turkeys and all the trimmings for their own dinner tables at home.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick gives back to a food basket recipient.
The Mission welcomed Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and first lady Diane Patrick to our celebration, as well as Massachusetts State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, Emergency Shelter Commission Director James Greene, Massachusetts Parole Board Chair Mark Conrad, Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services Secretary JudyAnn Bigby, Boston City Councilor Charles Yancey, and Massachusetts Elderly Affairs Commissioner Eliza Greenberg. All helped to celebrate the great gifts we've been given in the midst of a very challenging year.
We are so grateful for the churches, businesses, schools, and individuals who contribute valuable gifts of time, food, and financial resources on this special day and throughout the year. A special thanks go out to Ashley Stanley and Lovin' Spoonfuls, and BG Hodges and the crews from the Brewster Academy, as well as many others. To find out more about donating your time or food items to the Mission, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Jay Bonetti, at 617-338-9000 x1230. We know that when you give of yourself, you'll receive back even more. Thank you for caring!
