We are so thankful and appreciative of the volunteers who help at the Mission everyday. Our volunteers are a diverse group representing many different spans of age, occupation, race and religion. You can make a difference at the Boston Rescue Mission in a variety of ways. We have opportunities for the individual who would like to become part of a family-like atmosphere. We also have volunteer activities designed for single families or groups.
Since April of 2008, over 4,500 people volunteered in some capacity at the Boston Rescue Mission. Being a non-profit organization, we keep track of volunteer hours and estimate for tax purposes the value of volunteer support received. In the 2008/2009 fiscal year, our estimated volunteer support was nearly $1.7 million dollars. Almost a quarter of the Boston Rescue Mission budget is "in-kind" donations like volunteer support. Clearly we could not sustain our services without our tremendous volunteers!
We have dedicated a page of opportunities for both Individuals and Groups. Please review the volunteer calendar for opportunities, fill out our volunteer application, and submit it to volunteer@brm.org.
We do ask that individuals be 18 years of age or older unless accompanied by a parent or an adult supervisor. At this time we are not accepting any applications from people wishing to fulfill court appointed community hours.
For more information regarding volunteer opportunities please contact our volunteer coordinator at 617-338-9000 ext.1244 or email Volunteer@brm.org.
We are actively recruiting for a volunteer who would assist our Director Of Operations. The ideal candidate would be a retired trades person looking to give back to the community through a commitment to consistent help. Work would include electrical, plumbing, and maintenance work. Please email the volunteer coordinator at Volunteer@brm.org or call 617-338-9000 (x1244)
