About the Role

The Facilities Maintenance Manager at Boston Rescue Mission serves as the primary supervisor of all maintenance-related work at all BRM properties. This is a key role responsible for ensuring that all buildings are optimally operating and in compliance with all BRM, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and laws.


At the heart of all interactions with BRM donors, guests, and volunteers, the Facilities Maintenance Manager is integral to cultivating an environment that establishes respect and acceptance of all individuals. This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about social justice, facility management, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the maintenance of all BRM properties, which includes overseeing all BRM buildings, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operating conditions

  • Provide timely and professional property management to ensure that all BRM tenant needs are properly met

  • Supervise custodial staff, maintenance staff, and volunteers performing maintenance work

  • Oversee staff work schedules, work needs, and performance of maintenance staff

  • Collaborate with all management staff to ensure BRM facility objectives are upheld by all residents, staff, and visitors

  • Ensure that BRM facilities operate in compliance with all state and federal regulations, policies, and laws

  • Facilitate the coordination, cooperation, and communication between operations and maintenance staff and the Director of Finance and Operations

  • Recommend resourceful and cost-effective changes to ensure efficient use of building spaces

  • Uphold proper BRM protocols for communication of equipment deliveries, pick-ups, and services

  • Assist the Director of Finance and Operations with evaluations of maintenance staff and the hiring of new staff as needed

About You (Qualifications)

  • Aligned to BRM’s mission to serve volunteers and shelter guests with respect, integrity, and grace as we collaborate to support the recovery, health, and independence of those with a history of substance use, incarceration, and homelessness

  • Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree required and at least 8-10 years of experience with direct supervision in the corporate, public, and ministry fields.

  • Familiarity and ease with Microsoft Office suite and daily use of technology

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with building and equipment maintenance

  • Possess strong analytical and reasoning skills, with a proven track record of evaluating problems through a solutions-oriented lens, efficiently identifying logical alternative solutions, and proactively implementing those solutions through positive communication and clear project management

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with supervising diverse staff and collaborating in cross-cultural settings, with compassion for individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and mental illness

  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with BRM guests, staff, volunteers, and other partner agencies

Why Boston Rescue Mission (Compensation)

  • Compensation: $60,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience

  • Time Off: 4 weeks of paid time off + holidays
